Power Prayers for Peace on Election Day and Beyond

Power Prayers for Peace on Election Day and Beyond

No matter the outcome of the election, there will be upset and unrest felt in our country.  Let's be encouraged to pray for peace - a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Our nation will need a peace that no matter what disappointments we face, we can trust in the One who has it all worked out and is in our today and tomorrows. We can find hope in a faithful God who promises to be with us. God is in control and He alone can bring the healing, wisdom, and peace that we long for.

Let us join together and pray for peace on this election day and for unity moving forward. He hears our prayers, He knows our needs. There's great power in uniting together, turning our hearts towards Him, and praying on behalf of our nation.

A Prayer for Peace on Election Day

The world around me is filled with suffering. My nation is under attack from within. Everyone seems to hate those who disagree with them. I’m afraid to speak my mind for fear of rejection or retaliation. Even in the church, belief in a political figure has seemed to replace belief in our Savior.

This election year has proven to be scary. People are being arrested, others are dying. I honestly feel very overwhelmed. My heart aches from worry and I don’t know how to support others. Not when I can’t even find peace in myself.

The thought of tomorrow scares me. I can barely handle today.

Despite my struggles, I know the Bible speaks of perfect peace that only you can grant us, a peace that no person can comprehend. This peace comforts us in spite of the turmoil surrounding us or the struggle we feel within. God, please fill me with that peace right now. I need you. Please don’t pass me by.

Please give me the clarity to see you working within the chaos so that I may find rest from the worrisome thoughts, knowing that you will handle tomorrow. And I can rest peacefully today. Amen. (Aaron Brown)

Lord, We Need Your Peace

Dear God, We’re in need of your peace and truth to soothe our hearts and spirits right now. When we find ourselves awake in the middle of the night, our pressing needs and worries can feel overwhelming. We need to be reminded of your constant love, healing, and grace. We ask for your Mighty Power to surround us. ~ Debbie McDaniel

Thank you that you have set us free and that you are bigger than anything we face in this life. We lay our burdens before you, every single one, for we know they’re much safer in your hands than our own.

A Prayer for Peace Over Anxiety on Election Day

Our Heavenly Father, Thank you for being with us and for sending the Holy Spirit to comfort us and to guide us. Lord, right now it feels like there is so much at stake, and there is a lot of anxiety about the upcoming election. People are worried. Your Word says to be anxious for nothing, but in everything to come to You; I ask that you provide peace and comfort to the worried hearts of this country right now. Relieve their anxiety by helping them to focus on You and your will. Help those who feel anxious to instead feel Your presence. Please diffuse the spirit of anxiety across the nation, bringing understanding between all people. Reign over us, O Lord, instead of fear. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen. (Bethany Vernett)

For the Peace of Christ to Rule

Dear Lord, Help me remember you are indeed Lord of my life. You have the right to rule all that I think, believe and do. When I allow my mind to run to places that destroy my peace, remind me these are unauthorized thoughts. You do not want me to dwell on thoughts and emotions that contribute to unreasonable fears.

I know my mind will remain in perfect peace as I fix my thoughts on you; so Lord Jesus, let your peace rule in my heart. Remind me of the peace I have in your family, and teach me how to be thankful for those circumstances that cause me to run to you, focus on you, and abide in you. I never need live with fearful, anxious thoughts. The truth is, you are in control! (Dawn Wilson)

A Prayer for Our Nation

Holy Father, Thank you for choosing to put me in this country, at this time, and for Your purposes. Please be with this country during this time of decision. Bless it and keep it strong. Help us to remember the things we have in common, and not just our differences. Let there be revival in our country, bringing us closer to You and to each other. As King David wrote, the nation whose God is the Lord is blessed. Please be the Lord over this nation above all else. Protect our people, guide our steps, and strengthen us through this season. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen. (Bethany Vernett)

A Prayer for Peace When the World Makes You Anxious

Dear God, I am prone to worry. I let the happenings of the world, the elections and the economy sit heavy on me. I need to find your peace. I invite you to restructure my thinking. May my hope be you. May my peace be you. May you help love flow out from me. Give me clarity. May I change what I am able to change and release what I can't. May I know that the greatest joy is staying where you are. God, thank you that you have the whole world in your hands. I need not fear because you are the best manager, orchestrator and caretaker. You made it all. I believe in your plan. Amen.
