Whereas others call themselves white witches or Wiccan call on Mother Earth for protection and encase their homes with herbs, spices, and plants.

Interest in the supernatural on the rise in the last few decades with more than 730,000 individuals who call themselves Wiccan or witches. One may ask what influences are at work in the art of witchcraft and handle to this evil influence.

What Is Witchcraft?

Before we dive into our spiritual warfare tools, we must understand what witchcraft is. Witchcraft is defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as, “a woman who has magical powers, a person who practices magic as a part of his or her religion.” The definition goes on to include a woman who is believed to practice usually black magic often with the aid of a devil or familiar. But witchcraft encompasses more than just a woman who practices black magic to harm others. Witchcraft includes Wiccan magic, fortune-telling, Ouija boards, crystals, curses, palm reading, and tarot and angel cards.

It isn’t just women who practice witchcraft. Today more people are choosing the witchy lifestyle as they gather in movie theaters to watch supernatural shows and fill their homes with hundreds of plants for protection. They are individuals who consult tarot cards, use palm readings, and hold seances.

Witchcraft and feminism go hand in hand as witches are becoming a symbol of freedom the patriarchy that has long condemned the role of women since the fall of Adam and Eve. However, women are not the enemy when it comes to witchcraft, nor should the common man be afraid of women. Instead, men need to do more to protect women and those in dire circumstances from being prey to the enemy. They are people who worship the created instead of the Creator.

The Bible also warns us to be aware of the enemy’s schemes. Many believers assume the reasons for their disappointment, depression, losing their job, etc. have to do with witchcraft. But there are so many reasons for struggles and trials like these. Depression could be a chemical imbalance, the job loss could be because God has something better in store for you. We would do well to look at the entire situation. We would also do well to understand why more individuals are enchanted with the witch lifestyle.

What Does the Bible Say about Witchcraft?

The Bible has a lot to say about witchcraft. It expressly condemns all forms of sorcery, mediums, and witchcraft because these forms of power are dark and were fathered by the enemy. God and Satan hold sources of spiritual power. One is the father of all good, while the other is the father of lies and Satan only holds his power so for long—when God creates a new heaven and a new earth, he will be thrown into the pit forever (Job 1:12; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 20:2).

Witchcraft is Satan’s power, and he excels in counterfeiting God. The penalty for practicing witchcraft was death under the Mosaic law (Exodus 22:18, 1 Chronicles 10:13, Leviticus 20:27) because at the heart of witchcraft is the same ploy Satan used in the garden of Eden when he said to Eve: “You can be like God, (Genesis 3:5). Since then Satan has been trying to distract and divert our attention from the worship of our mighty God. He uses witchcraft to entice us with the suggestions of self-realization, spiritual enlightenment, power, and worshiping ourselves.

Isaiah 8:19 says, “When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?”

First Chronicles 10:13 tells us that “Saul died because he was unfaithful to the LORD; he did not keep the word of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance.”

First Samuel 15:23 says, “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.”

We are to take our stand against the enemy’s schemes and put on the full armor of God, “put on the whole armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” (Ephesians 6:11). Real spiritual power only comes from God, from a relationship with Him through faith in Jesus Christ, and from the Holy Spirit who dwells in our hearts. Prayer Against the Powers of the Dark and Witchcraft

Heavenly Father, I bow in worship and praise before You. I cover myself with the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ as my protection during this time of prayer. I bind all principalities, powers of the air, wickedness in high places, I bind every solider of the enemy and cast them out of my heart, home, spirit, and mind.

In the name of Jesus, I command Satan to leave my presence with all his demons in the power of Lord Christ Jesus.

In the name of Jesus, I bind and break witchcraft, mind-bending spirits, spirits that block and bind will. I bind and break all rebellion, rejection, anger, hatred, bitterness, malice, slander, resentment, pride, dissension, distraction, perversion, and deception. In the name of Jesus, I bind and break the spirits of fear, greed, addiction, drugs, and alcohol. I repent of all evil practiced. I repent of all rebellion, and I ask to be covered in the wings of my heavenly father and in the blood of Christ Jesus. Lord, please wash away my iniquities and make me white as snow.

Heavenly Father, I humbly ask that you would quicken me; show me the way that Satan is deceiving me. Show me how I am deceiving myself and where I am believing falsehoods instead of in you. Reveal how he is hindering my spiritual walk and how he is tempting me. Please show me where he is counterfeiting and distorting the truth in my life. I claim in every way Jesus’ victory over all satanic forces active in my life, and I reject these forces; and I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ with thanksgiving, glory, and praise. Amen.

A Warrior's Prayer with the Armor of God

Heavenly Father, Your warrior prepares for battle. Today I claim victory over Satan by putting on the whole armor of God!

I put on the Girdle of Truth! May I stand firm in the truth of Your Word so I will not be a victim of Satan’s lies.

I put on the Breastplate of Righteousness! May it guard my heart against evil so I will remain pure and holy, protected under the blood of Jesus Christ.

I put on the Shoes of Peace! May I stand firm in the Good News of the Gospel so Your peace will shine through me and be a light to all I encounter.

I take the Shield of Faith! May I discern Satan’s fiery darts of doubt, denial, and deceit so I will not be vulnerable to spiritual defeat.

I put on the Helmet of Salvation! May I keep my mind focused on You so Satan will not have a stronghold on my thoughts.

I take the Sword of the Spirit! May the two-edged sword of Your Word be ready in my hands so I can expose the tempting words of Satan.

By faith, your warrior has put on the whole armor of God! I am prepared to live this day in spiritual victory! Amen. - David Jeremiah

A Prayer of Protection

Lord Jesus, I am so grateful and humbled to be your child. And I am thankful that you continue to love, cherish, and protect me in this sometimes dark and scary world. You remind me to renew my mind and keep my thoughts on you. I ask for your protection against those who call evil good. I ask for awareness and discernment against any who oppose you. Guard me against those who scheme against righteousness and goodness. Please cover my family, my home, and work with your warrior angels. I ask for a hedge of protection in the name of Jesus. Keep us safe on this day as we continue to be a light for you –the mighty King of kings. In Jesus’ Amen.

A Prayer Against Witchcraft and Spiritual Attacks

We know that the enemy wouldn’t be fighting so hard against us if we weren’t making a difference for your kingdom. He wouldn’t be trying so hard to stop us, if he didn’t think you had so much good still in store. Remind us, today Lord, that the battle belongs to you, and whatever we’re up against can be taken down in one fell swoop by your mighty hand. Please help us to trust you more, to stop wasting time just spinning our wheels or fighting in our strength. Forgive us for the times we’ve neglected to set our eyes and hearts on you, for the days we’ve forgotten to come to you first. Fill us with the power of your Holy Spirit. Fill us with your wisdom and discernment to make us aware of the enemy’s traps, so we can stand strong against his schemes. Thank you for your constant reminders that your presence will go with us, in whatever we face, and you will give us rest. Amen - Debbie McDaniel
