A Prayer of Thankfulness for the Reversal of Roe v. Wade

A Prayer of Thankfulness for the Reversal of Roe v. Wade

As more information floods in with the Supreme Court’s final decision to hand the abortion laws back over to the states, tension begins to rise across the country. This hot topic has been a source of controversy for the last 50 years, and the battle for life may continue to wage on, but make no mistake about it, God has heard our prayers. We must celebrate that victory!

Many of us would have never thought this would have happened in our lifetime, but this is a day that shall forever go down in history as a win for all humankind! So, now we must continue to pray for our state legislators and that they will strive to protect the lives of all their citizens, including the unborn.

Please join me as we celebrate in prayer.

Precious Father,

You are the Creator and sustainer of life. We thank you for the gift of life and the gift of our children. Children that you see and deeply care for. Children that are our heritage, our legacy, and great reward. When we forget to see them through that lens, Lord, please open our eyes to your plan and purpose for our lives and that of our children.

As we celebrate the victory that you have won over the war of the unborn, we want to give you all the thanks and praise. We thank you for being present in that Supreme court hearing and softening hearts to see that life is truly precious. We are so grateful that it provides a springboard to support other victories for women and children, opening doors by providing additional options to support the lives of both mother and baby.

Father, we thank you for forming and knitting us in the womb, paying special attention to every detail of our bodies. As we mourn all the innocent lives that have been lost, we know that you know each and every one of those precious children intimately and personally. You have called them by name as they now dwell in your presence.

We ask you to be ever-present as we move forward from this ruling. That you be with us and lead and guide us to react with truth and grace. We know this decision sparks heated emotions for many. We know others do not feel the same, and as we approach situations that cause friction, we ask that you be in the midst of those conversations.

We pray you be with all mothers, drawing extra close to the sweet woman that may be experiencing an unintended pregnancy. Give comfort to the woman that is left wondering how to raise a child and considering what to do, maybe left confused after the ruling. If there is a feeling of uncertainty or if she is feeling pressured to end the pregnancy, step in and intervene, giving her the courage to choose life. Provide these sweet moms with counsel and wisdom.

For the woman that has undergone an abortion in the past, we pray you provide her with a road to recovery and forgiveness. We also pray that you mend those broken pieces of her heart that may have brought on guilt and shame, as we know that choice came with great agony.

As we move forward as a nation, heal us and bring forth restoration. Help us see family as a gift from you. Reveal our true identity as a man and woman, Lord, and help us see that your design is indeed perfect. While we may fail you and fall into the ways of this world, we ask you to have mercy on us. Open our hearts to see that motherhood is a privilege and joy, not something that holds us back. Give us the strength to continue to fight the battle for life and the courage to defend the innocent and unborn.

Lord, help us put prayer over politics. Love over judgments. Life over loss. Truth over fear. Help us stand firm in our faith by digging into Your Word and equipping us with what we need to keep fighting the battles of this life.

It is in Your Holy and Precious Name we pray all these things.

Amen.
