15 Spring Break Trips That Are Budget and Family-Friendly

Spring Break is just around the corner, and before we know it, summertime will be here! The kids will be itching to go somewhere – anywhere! But with the current cost of everyday items, and maybe even still recovering from the holiday frenzy splurging sprees, the thought of a vacation sounds stressful or not doable.
Take heart because you can take some fun and memorable trips with your family that won't break the bank. And to really pull at your heartstrings a bit, you got to make these summers count because you only have 18 of them! That's it! Also, keep in mind that the first two summers and the last two summers don't always count. That's because it's a little more challenging to travel with a baby, and when it comes to teenagers, well, those last two years are a toss-up as to if they want to go anywhere with the family or not. So, seize the opportunities when you can. Let's start planning and make some sweet memories that will last a lifetime!

15. New Orleans, Louisiana
Looking for live music and Cajun cuisine? Then check out "the Big Easy." It's known for its easygoing lifestyle and relaxed pace while also having a flare for some of the tastiest food and best jazz music around. Explore the French Quarter, ride a carriage, or visit the children's museum. There are lots of sights and fun to be had in this city!
14. Yellowstone, Wyoming
Discover a beauty like no other. This massive park is covered in mountains, canyons, geysers, and forestry, not to mention all the incredible wildlife you will spot along the way. There is also an amazing Junior Ranger Program that will educate your children on the history, plants, and animals. Tackle some of the numerous hiking trails, camp in the wilderness, go for a bike ride, ride a horse, or take a boat ride. This place is one to explore!
13. Niagara Falls, New York
One of the most beautiful natural wonders of the world. A place visited by over 12 million people per year! It's always free to see the beauty of the falls, and it is open year-round, but note that it can get crowded. The best days to visit during the summer are generally in the middle of the week.
12. Williamsburg, Virginia
History buffs are welcomed and encouraged here! This is the place to visit if you want to see history come to life. Colonial Williamsburg is the largest living-history museum where visitors can step back in time and experience life as a tradesperson. Be sure to check out the calendar online for events and ticket information. Not only fun but educational – parents, you will get extra credit with this trip!
11. Branson, Missouri
Live music, games, amusement parks, and entertainment flood this place. Catch a show or head out to a dinner movie theater. While expenses can add up rather quickly, some attractions are free or at least on the cheaper end. There is a free downtown trolley that can give you an overview and help you decide what you and your family want to do because it can be overwhelming. But there are also scenic overlooks, museums, tons of restaurants, murals, and more that will feed your family's adventurous and playful side.
10. Natchez, Mississippi
As a southern girl, I visited this state quite often, as we had family in Biloxi. But some of my favorite memories were visiting and touring the beautiful grounds and lovely Antebellum homes. There is so much history surrounding this place, and it's as if you step into another era, touring each of the homes and hearing the endless stories. There are also riverboat tours and charming inns to stay in to add to the experience.
9. Washington, D.C.
Talk about humbling. You will be moved by the amazing structures, such as the Lincoln Memorial, and become immersed in many museums that take pride in the heritage and history of America. It is worth the trip to take your children and show them the foundation on which America stands. God Bless the U.S.A.
8. Grand Canyon
This jaw-dropping wonder will not disappoint. The entry fee is fairly reasonable just to drive in and see the park's many attractions. But it does offer free visit days at well, so plan accordingly. You can hike and walk the many trails but be sure to go with a travel guide for safety and to take in the best views.
7. Mount Rushmore in South Dakota
Noted as one of the most iconic American attractions, this large, bold structure is worth visiting. The scenery surrounding it is beautiful, but be mindful that there is one entrance in and out. While staffers are available to help lead and guide you, a daily schedule sets the tours for the day, so it may be wise to check online before you go to plan your trip accordingly.
6. Smokey Mountains
This is our family's favorite place! Lots to do and see, with adventure tucked away behind picturesque scenery. Cade's Cove is especially worth the visit as you may see lots of wildlife, including bears - the best part is that it's free! There are affordable cabins, loads of hiking trails, and pretty waterfalls. Get your fill of the outdoors and nature with this trip.
5. Destin, Florida
More of a beach lover? Check out Destin. Not only does it boast sandy white beaches that stretch for miles, but it is relatively cheaper than other places to stay in Florida. It also caters to families with fun activities such as amusement parks, water parks, and even a beach to explore gators!
4. San Antonio, Texas
San Antonio is a great place to start if you've never visited Texas. Within the middle of town lies The Riverwalk, filled with shops and great restaurants, not to mention a riverboat tour. The town also has many amusement parks, such as Six Flags, Sea World, Legoland, and Natural Bridge Caverns. Not only that, but it has the historical sight of the Alamo, a nice zoo, and botanical gardens, too.
3. Big Sur in California
Stunning beauty surrounds this place with the majestic bridge, the stately lighthouses, and the turquoise beaches that crash upon the rocky shorelines. The drive to big sur will be enough to take your breath away. But if you're looking for more adventure, explore some nearby parks such as the Redwood Forrest, Point Lobos, or Calla Lily Valley.
2. Savannah, Georgia
There is much to see and do in this coastal city. The manicured parks, lush gardens, cobblestoned square-lined streets, and mossy Spanish trees will lead you to believe you have stepped into another world. Take in the arts and the city's history by packing a picnic lunch and eating on the square by the fountain. There are also walking tours and trolleys that will give you the full experience as well.
1. Rent an RV
You may want to visit several places. If you can take the time and fit it in your budget, what better way than by renting an RV and driving around the country to take in all the sights you and your family desire?
