Prayers for the Stay-at-Home Mom

Prayers for the Stay-at-Home Mom

Dear Stay-at-Home Mom,

I see you leaning over the dishes with misty eyes just wishing someone would notice you, anyone. The everyday mundane tasks seem pointless at times. You get up and do the same thing, over and over. It goes a little like this…You trudge to the kitchen, baby on hip, to pour a cup of coffee you will never get to finish. Either that, or you forgot where you put it (hint: check the microwave). You slave over laundry that seems to have no end. Toys are scattered across the living room, and you inwardly ask if it is even worth picking them up. You have to plan dinner but realize you left the meat out in the fridge for far too many days, and now, it looks, well, umm… questionable. You feel stuck, the walls feel as if they are closing in, and yet you wonder what else is out there. Is this it? Is this motherhood? Your body hurts from lack of sleep. Your mind feels a bit mushy. Your heart questions if you are doing the right thing. You feel lost and invisible to the rest of the world. I could go on…

But, I see you. I get it. I am with you, friend. Maybe that sounds a little weird and too forward. Okay, so let me put it this way: I’m sorry and sad you feel this way because I have felt this way too. Many, many times, actually. I wish I could bring you a “hot” cup of coffee and sit at your table that is scattered with crumbs and whisper, "It’s okay, you don’t have to be supermom today." Take a deep breath, and realize that in some seasons in this life, all you can do is live on a prayer

So, with that, can I pray for you?

Love,

Another Momma That’s Been There

Here are seven prayers to whisper up when you are weak, tired, and weary, along with simply sweet verses to etch in your heart for every day of the week. Dear momma, here is the truth - you are capable of so much more than you may be led to believe because you are seen by a loving God who has given you a priceless purpose to live out!

Sunday - A Prayer for the Week Ahead

Father, I come before You seeking Your presence for this new week. I need Your love, comfort, mercy, and grace. Please lead and guide me as I go about the tasks and duties that lie before me. Thank you for blessing me with my children and family and allowing me the opportunity to serve and love them at home. I know that with You I am never alone, and always seen. Thank you! Amen.

"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight." Hebrews 4:13

Monday - A Prayer for Patience

O God, I am grateful that You love me no matter what feelings may well up from within. As You well know, I am currently tired and weary. I keep hearing from others to cherish every moment and that the years are supposedly short, but I am now standing in a very long day in a grueling season that is testing every bit of my patience. I secretly want this year to go by a bit faster. Sigh. Lord, please help me. Help me find rest in You. I need just a little bit of patience today. Love, your daughter…

"But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." Romans 8:25

Tuesday - A Prayer for Relationships

Gracious God, there are days I feel so very alone. I adore my children and feel ever so grateful to be given the opportunity to stay home with them, but I need a trusted friend. Someone to share and experience this crazy life with. I also need to have a better connection with my husband. I miss him. This season has strained our marriage. And I need a community to do this life with. Lord, I know I am asking for so much, but I also know that You can provide. So, I lean into You and seek to connect with You first and foremost, knowing that You are a relational God. I give you my heart and a way to make room for relationships to grow and bloom. I love You so much, Lord. Amen.

"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin." 1 John 1:7

Wednesday - A Prayer to See the Good

Loving Lord, You are such a good and gracious God. I am thankful for all the blessings You have bestowed upon me and my life. Please forgive me when I fall down the path of lies and sway from the Truth. Grant me the means to fight off the lies and schemes from the deceiver by tucking Your Word into the depths of my heart. I know that You are a God who has a purpose and plan for my life, and it is built within this season as well. Help me choose to see all the beauty in these days and experience the wonder and joy it brings. Thank you for my little family. Thank you for my life. Thank you for everything. Amen.

"I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord." Psalm 27:13

Thursday - A Prayer for Strength

Jesus, I come before You today and humbly ask for strength. This role as a stay-at-home mom can be so overwhelming and purely exhausting. The demands are high, yet my energy is often low. I need Your loving arms to wrap around me and grant me the perseverance and endurance to keep going and put one foot in front of the other. Give me a margin in my life to seek rest physically, mentally, and emotionally. Protect my heart as I carry out my daily obligations, knowing that investing in my children is how I bring glory to You. Help me chisel these little arrows to become a mighty army for You! Amen.

"Do not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9

Friday - A Prayer to Have Fun

God, I love how Your Word reminds us that we can live with abundance. We are allowed to have fun! But, if I am being honest, I have forgotten how to have fun. Please open my heart and eyes to ways I can truly enjoy this sweet season with my precious children. Allow room in the day that removes me from the daily grind and helps me get on the floor and play with my children. Help me shift my focus and see moments where I can laugh and truly delight in this season. I want to be able to look back on these times with fondness and be ever so thankful for Your mercy and grace. Thank you for the gift of laughter and memories. Amen.

"A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit." Proverbs 15:13

Saturday - A Prayer for This Humble Calling

Faithful Father, I can rest assured that You have a plan and purpose for my life and the lives of my children. I trust in You and the calling You laid out before me. As I stumble through this calling, I seek Your wisdom, discernment, and lots of grace. So many times, I need a gentle reminder that I am doing exactly Your will. Bring me peace about my day and place Your Truths in front of me as I raise my children in a home You have so graciously provided for my family. I want my children to know about You. Please give me the ability to provide a loving example for them. I trust You, and I thank You for Your unfailing love. Amen
