Spring Cleaning for the Single Mom

Time to clean out the closets, wash all the baseboards, and clear out each room of its clutter. Sound like the last thing you want to do? Or even have the energy for? Actually, though they may be things that are on your "to do" list, they are not the most important spring cleaning choices you can make for yourself.

A new season is upon you, the newness of spring, a time for new growth and beautiful opportunities to flourish. This is the time to clean out past memories, wash out any stains on your heart, and clear out the clutter from your mind of any painful hurts or sorrows.

You may be thinking "easier said than done"... yes it is difficult; but the fact is, it must be done for your spiritual and emotional health. And for your children's sakes, they must be raised with emotional well being, and spiritual security. This is the perfect time to prepare the fields, plant the seeds of love and forgiveness and allow the time for growth.

In order to have a beautiful garden in your heart and mind, all the weeds must be pulled first. Ephesians 4:31-32 says, "All bitterness, anger and wrath, insult and slander must be removed from you, along with wickedness. And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ".

Ecclesiastes 3:1-4 states, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven...a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance". This spring season take the time to pray in each room of your home, ask for God's blessings and protection for you and your children. He will lovingly do so!

You don't have to do this spring-cleaning alone. Don't be afraid to ask for help or support from your church, family or friends. There are many compassionate and supportive people who will eagerly assist with the cleansing process. There are many resources available to support you.

And once your home is sparkling and your garden is blooming, take the time to adorn yourself. But know, "the most important piece of clothing you must wear is love. Love is what binds us all together in perfect harmony". Colossians 3:14

Remember from previous seasons what it feels like once all the spring-cleaning is finished? You have much to look forward to this spring season. A brand new you, a cleansed mind and heart, and a healthier family filled with joy and happiness. Watch closely how you and your children will spiritually flourish in the process.
