When traveling between states and countries, most people opt for flights. They’re typically fast, painless, and easy to book. In Palm Beach County, Florida, however, when the cockpit started facing “manageable ice” and “moderate turbulence,” the flight quickly became an emergency.

In less than three minutes of reporting the adverse weather conditions, the private jet flying over Florida en route to the Bahamas nosedived to the ground in a residential area near Cresthaven, north of Miami, on Sunday, November 1st, 2026, around 12:50 p.m. local time. With nine people on board, the Learjet 60 slammed and skidded to a halt as smoke filled the air. All nine were killed on impact.

As details of the emergency call made just minutes before the crash have been released, the pilot was heard radioing, “We’re descending 8,000 - mayday, mayday - we’re descending 10,000 feet per minute,” according to the Associated Press and CNN. In what viewers are calling a “wrenching interaction,” the pilot is heard becoming increasingly frantic and screaming the Lord’s Prayer as their craft is falling out of the sky.

The Learjet 60 had taken off from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas. According to the Palm Beach Post, a family of four, their nanny, and another couple were among the nine people killed in the Learjet 60 plane crash. The New York Times has reported that the co-pilot was twenty-year-old Nathalia Filgueiras.

On Monday, November 2nd, relatives of the passengers confirmed the identities of all the victims: Adam Robinson, 45, his wife, Helen Sharp, 40, and their children, Emma, 2, and Charlie, 4; the children’s nanny Anita Maria Cetina; and another couple, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr.

“We are deeply grateful to the first responders, investigators, and the Palm Beach County community for their care, and to everyone who has reached out with love,” the families wrote in a post on Facebook. “Our hearts are also with the families of the pilots, who are grieving alongside us.”
