Bible Ministry Making Memorial Day Weekend Memorable by Planning Largest Distribution of John's Gospel in One Day

This year’s Memorial Day weekend is a bit unique because it falls on the same weekend as Pentecost. Bibles for the World has decided to take advantage of the blended holiday opportunity and is planning to pass out about 1.4 million copies of the Gospel of John on Pentecost Saturday, May 23rd.
“It is record-breaking in that it’s the single largest provision of Scripture in history for a one-day evangelistic event,” John Pudaite, president and CEO of the Colorado-based nonprofit organization, told Christian Newswire.
‘Go Day’ Involves Teams from Over 70 Countries
The upcoming event has been dubbed “Go Day” and will involve teams from over 70 countries and a multitude of international mission agencies that are representing the worldwide outreach, according to the Bibles for the World website.
Teams will share the Gospel of John in the context of organized efforts such as street evangelism, going door-to-door, Memorial Day celebrations, and other large-scale events. The website also offers a 4-point plan to help people prepare for how they can effectively share the Gospel, as well as a devotional they can walk through for additional personal preparation.
“If we have only one chance to get a copy of God’s Word into someone’s hand, we choose the Gospel of John, as it is the most compelling and complete of the Gospels,” Pudaite told the Christian Newswire.
Pudaite Influenced by his Grandfather
Pudaite has a very interesting story in his ancestral background involving the Gospel of John specifically. His ancestors were a part of a “headhunter” tribe in India and were amazingly transformed because of a Welsh missionary who sent them one copy of the Gospel of John.
The chief responded with this message: “Sir, please come and explain the meaning of this book.”
The missionary responded to the message, and the entire village came to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. From there, a handful of villagers, one of which was Pudaite’s grandfather, went on to spread the Gospel to other nearby countries.
“This all started with a single copy of the Gospel of John, Pudaite told the Christian Newswire.
“That’s why we believe in the power of God’s Word to transform communities around the world today.”
While “Go Day” is certainly an important day, Bibles for the World would also encourage believers to share the Gospel whenever the opportunity presents itself. The website offers youth pastors an event curriculum in which they can empower students to share their testimony and the Gospel.
