Christians Engaged and Great American Media Planning Team Up for 'America Reads the Bible' Event
America Read the Bible is a weeklong event that will be taking place at the Museum of the Bible in Washington D.C. in 2026 as part of the 250th celebration of America’s anniversary. “This is a national call to ignite revival, inspire discipleship, and unite believers through the power of Scripture,” Christians Engaged Founder Bunni Pounds told the Christian Newswire. Pounds is the founder of one of the organizations that will be hosting the America Reads the Bible event.
The dates for the event are from April 19-25, 2026, and it will also be live-streamed for more than seven days from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Great American Pure Flix. A kick-off event will take place the night before on April 18, according to K-Love.
Americans from all walks of life will be highlighted as they take turns reading the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Both well-known celebrities and ordinary people will be participating, and they will represent all 50 states. There will also be times of worship.
“We believe the Word of God can transform individuals and nations—and we’re inviting Americans to participate by listening or reading it aloud together, in a powerful act of unity and faith,” Pounds said.
The Biblical inspiration for the event includes the books of Nehemiah and Ezra. These Biblical accounts remind us that not only were the physical walls of Israel rebuilt to protect the nation, but there was also a renewing of hearts, according to the America Reads the Bible website. When Ezra stood before the people and read the law, the people received a revelation that deepened their understanding of their identity and calling. They turned their hearts back to God, and Israel experienced a revival. It’s hoped that the America Read the Bible event will cause a revival to be ushered in to America.

It’s also hoped that the Lord will use the event to call forth “modern day Nehemiahs and Ezras” who will become leaders that help restore an understanding that Scripture is still relevant today, truth still matters, and God isn’t finished with America yet, according to the America Read the Bible website.
Other organizations that are participating in the event so far include: Museum of the Bible, Time to Revive, Whitaker House Publishing, Andrew Wommack Ministries, Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), WallBuilders, Promise Keepers, Waterstone Foundation, National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, Allen Jackson Ministries, PRAY.COM, Family Policy Alliance Foundation, Jack Graham Ministries, Family Research Council, National Religious Broadcasters Association, Her Voice MVMT, First Liberty Institute and Salt and Light Council.
