Lauren Daigle Speaks Out in Washington on Protecting Kids from Online Dangers

Grammy-winning Christian singer Lauren Daigle is using her music platform to champion the cause of helping children remain safe from online predators and other online threats. She visited Washington DC to speak out about her support for the STOP CSAM Act, according to Premier Christian News.
The bill is a bipartisan one that is designed to fight against "the sexual exploitation of children by supporting victims and promoting accountability and transparency by the tech industry, according to the language in the bill.
The bill also addresses strengthening the CyberTipline reporting requirements so that it will become simpler to report menacing or disturbing content and get it removed.
"This act is honestly just to bring big tech to the forefront and say, 'Hey, you have the resources to help us stop this problem.' It's worldwide. It's a global issue, and it's using apps that you and I use every single day," Daigle told Fox News.
Daigle added that this particular issue is "a personal one for me. …It was right around the first time I'd heard about human trafficking. That was 15 years ago, and it wasn't quite as common. …I remember at a young age really being revolted by the idea that children are being harmed around the world, and now we actually have an opportunity to do something about it."
It's estimated that there are approximately 500,000 online predators who are active on the internet daily. Children who are the most at risk are between the ages of 12 and 15. Roughly 89 percent of sexual advances aimed at children take place in internet chat rooms or through instant messaging, and it's not always a stranger who's a threat. Sometimes the predator is a relative or someone who has been a friend of the family, according to the Child Crime Prevention & Safety Center.
