Speaker Johnson Warns of 'Battle' and Necessity of U.S. Christian Citizens to Stand Up for Nation's Founding Principles

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-LA, was invited to be the headlining speaker at the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Summit that took place earlier this month in San Diego. Johnson didn’t mince words as he warned conference attendees about America’s future and tied it to the importance of Americans, especially Christian Americans, speaking out about America’s founding principles.

Battling a ‘Very Dark Philosophy’

“We are in a confrontation, in a battle against a very dark philosophy – Marxism, and its deviations, communism and socialism,” Johnson said, according to Fox News. “You see, the problem that I tell university students is this formula that Lincoln later articulated in the Gettysburg Address, we’re dedicated to this proposition that we are one nation under God, and that a government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.”

Johnson notes that many people are “denying the most self-evident truth,” namely, the recognition and acknowledgment of God as our Creator. He noted that there are people who want to erase this reality, and that “if you’re not made by your Creator, and you’re not made in His image, it means you do not have an inestimable dignity and value.”

Johnson further noted that, “Marxists deny the existence of your Creator, Himself. And that means you’re just another social animal. You’re just part of the herd. That’s the basis of socialism. And what happens in that scenario is that the people who amass the power will control and direct the herd.  You lose your freedom.  It’s a road to tyranny.”

Some Believe Smithsonian Pushing An Agenda

It’s a sad reality that even the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., a museum intended to help preserve and present the truth about America’s founding, has, according to some, been overrun with a liberal agenda,

Hillsdale College Dean Matthew Spalding testified before the House Oversight Committee last week about how America’s story has been rewritten and presented with a liberal slant that teaches “self-loathing,” according to The Federalist.

“Thank God for true Americans like Professor Spalding who see the ideological brainwashing happening right in the heart of our nation’s capital,” youth, culture and religion expert Dr. Alex McFarland said via a Hamilton Strategies press release. “It is the Smithsonian’s job to present the truth of American (and global) history, not filter the facts through a DEI lens. By applying such a warped view of America, the next generation will not revere our hard-won freedoms the way they should. This lack of patriotism is at the heart of the liberal agenda. The Smithsonian has been driven by the false philosophy of cultural Marxism for far too long. It is high time Americans critically consider the subversive messaging and stand up not only for the truth, but for the right to choose whether or not we want to be exposed to such unpatriotic brainwashing.”

American Freedoms and Right of Citizens to Vote

America’s Founders were adamant about the unalienable rights of mankind. They even referred to this as a “self-evident truth,” claiming that all people “are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty [freedom], and the pursuit of happiness.” So they wove these words into the Declaration of Independence. They believed these unalienable rights were not only part of the Law of Nature and God, but also part of a universal moral law, according to American Heritage

The freedom and right of American citizens to vote was built into America’s governmental system to help with a peaceful transition of power and help preserve America’s freedoms. However, many feel America’s election integrity is being compromised. Earlier this month, President Trump released several newly declassified intelligence documents that exposed the efforts of the former Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI Counterintelligence regarding admitting in September 2020 that, “I’m basically running a shadow government across the FBI at this point,” according to Christian Newswire.

An intelligence report revealed that, “In late August of 2020, the Chinese government had produced a large amount of fraudulent U.S. drivers’ licenses that were secretly exported to the U.S.,” and that, “the fraudulent driver’s licenses would allow tens of thousands of Chinese students and immigrants sympathetic to the CCP [Chinese Communist Party] to vote for U.S. Presidential candidate Joe Biden despite not being eligible to vote in the U.S.”

So Congress has introduced the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which, if passed, would amend the Constitution and strengthen the integrity of U.S. elections. The SAVE Act has passed in the House, but not the Senate. Various Senate conservatives are pushing Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) to cancel the August recess so the Senate can debate and pass the SAVE Act, according to The Hill.

With midterm elections on the horizon, it’s important to learn what’s on the ballot, who is up for reelection and to vote for candidates who share your values. It’s unfortunate that one out of three Christians doesn’t consistently vote. To learn more about the upcoming issues from a Christian perspective, click here.
