The Christian songwriter who helped pen the hit “How Great is Our God” has left controversial pastor Wayne Jolley’s church.
Ed Cash and his brother, Scott, said last week they would be leaving the Gathering International after Jolley had been accused of spiritual and sexual abuse, according to Christianity Today.
Cash was the worship leader for the Gathering International, a small congregation that met in Jolley’s home.
“We find all the allegations against Wayne Jolley to be very troubling and are grieved by the pain others have endured,” they wrote. “We're praying for the Lord's total healing and restoration for everyone involved.
“We hope our lives and character make it unmistakably clear that we would never knowingly support anything that does not honor the Lord,” the letter reads.
Scott Cash was also a leader in the Gathering.
Jolley’s congregation says he is a prophet and spiritual father. He is constantly given tithes and gifts for his “blessing.”
In return, Jolley also tells his followers where they can work, live and who they can associate with, but a report by Christianity Today late in 2015 showed former followers who say that Jolley took their money and broke up their families.
