‘God Is Real. Evil Is Real’: Jonathan Cahn Opens Up About His New Book

New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Cahn — whose book "The Harbinger" spent 102 weeks on the bestseller list — is releasing his latest work: "The Altar of Pergamon," on Sept. 1st. The book traces one ancient altar — the one the Apostle John called "Satan's throne" in Revelation.
Cahn, who is known by many as the prophetic author, seems to know how to deliver just in time for his mass audience, keeping them coming back time and time again. In a sit-down interview with Crosswalk, Cahn is clear that his words and books are from God and God alone.
CW: Can you take our audience into your writing space? What happens when you start writing?
JC: Most of what happens, happens before I start writing. I only want to write when I truly have something to write about. It’s getting the revelation, the “download,” that’s the most important part. Behind "The Altar of Pergamon" are thousands of pages of notes. And yet writing it was special since I was led to reveal the mystery through a story, a thriller, a man and a woman on a journey across the world to unlock the mystery of a cryptic book. That part was fun.
CW: How did "The Altar of Pergamon" come into play?
JC: The mystery of "The Altar of Pergamon" is amazing and mind-blowing. I always knew I would write on a book to open it up – I just didn’t know when. It was at the end of last year that I had a strong leading that this was the time that the mystery was to open up. I had no idea that it just so happens that they’re planning to open "The Altar of Pergamon" to the world this coming year. There are no accidents.
CW: Give us an idea of some of the things that will be revealed in your new book.
JC: There are so many. I believe we identified about two hundred of them in the book itself. To give just a little taste, "The Altar of Pergamon" is linked to what the Bible identifies as the "Throne of Satan." It lay in the dust for almost 2,000 years. Then a man from Europe came to Pergamon and began uncovering it. He unearthed it and sent it to his homeland. From that moment on, that land would be linked to the Throne of Satan. The land was Germany – the rest was history.
In 1889, they pieced the “Throne of Satan” back together again. At that same moment, a child came into the world. His name was Adolf Hitler. Hitler’s rise was joined to the mystery of the Altar. When he came to power, he ordered that a massive platform on which he would speak to the German masses at Nuremberg. The platform was built, and he stood on top of it as he railed to the world. The platform was a recreation of the Altar of Pergamon. So, he literally was standing on a colossal Throne of Satan. When Hitler died, the Altar passed to another power. What was it? The Soviet Union. So, the Throne of Satan was transferred from Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union and the world of Communism.
The mystery is so gigantic it has literally altered the history of the world – not once, but repeatedly – to this day. The Altar of Pergamon, or Throne of Satan, lies behind World War I & II, the Cold War, the atomic age and nuclear destruction, the Cuban Missile Crisis, a coming world order, the internet and even a famous American leader who is still on the scene. It is so big that it has literally touched the lives of everyone who will be reading this article.
CW: What do you want the audience to walk away with after reading Altar of Pergamon?
JC: That it’s all real – That God is real. Evil is real. The Bible is real, and its words are true. And, in the end, the good prevails. And those who follow the path of God will overcome and prevail as well.
CW: Why do you think your audience keeps coming back to your books?
JC: Many, if not most, are wondering “What’s going on in the world, in America? What’s happening? Where is it all leading? What does the future hold?” The mysteries I open up in the books reveal that it’s not out of control – There is a reason, a plan, a meaning, and a purpose. Those reasons and plans are even mind-blowing, stunning, and life-changing. God is real. He is alive and well. And so, we don’t have to fear the future. We can in know, in part, what is yet to come and be ready for it. God is good. And He’s still on the throne – and He has no intention of getting off it!
