‘No One Has Had a Greater Impact’: Philip Anthony Mitchell Urges Christians to Stand for Jesus

This past weekend, Philip Anthony Mitchell hosted 80,000 believers at AT&T Stadium, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. While there, he joined in the call, telling the masses to put Jesus first. Mitchell is known to many in his tribe as simply PAM.
In a recent sit-down interview with Crosswalk Headlines, Mitchell lays out why he believes Christ Followers should live their lives for Jesus. In his new book, “Contend: Standing Boldly for Biblical Truth While Winning the War Within,” Mitchell makes it clear that we have been called to stand boldly for Christ.
“Jesus is arguably the most influential person in the history of the world,” he said. “And I know that there are people in your audience who may not believe what we believe. But no one has had a greater impact on society than the Lord Jesus. And I believe His teachings, when properly followed, have created human flourishing across the world. The drive of this book is really a stand for those teachings.”
He added that in his writing “Contend,” it was his attempt at holding up his duty to further Christ’s teachings to everyone, including those who may not know Him.
“It is me being faithful to my charge to do all that I can to preserve the teachings of Christ in society, which has ultimately brought human flourishing around the world,” he said. “And so, the tone of the book is also the way that I preach. I’m very passionate and I care about people, and I want to do my part to see human flourishing, and I think that comes through the teachings of Christ and the messages He’s left for us in the word of God.”
Mitchell dives into the book of Jude in “Contend" for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. In challenging the body of Christ, Mitchell reminds his audience what God has given us and why we need to contend well for the faith.
Mitchell is clear that, by writing the book, he was obedient to what God called him to do while taking his readers on a journey that began when he visited Turkey.
