Country music fans who turned out to see superstar Morgan Wallen in Seattle over the weekend got a taste of church, too, when CCM/country artist Anne Wilson opened the show with her hits and a heartfelt testimony. "God truly writes the best stories with our lives. Only He could have put me on that stage," Wilson told the crowd. The 23-year-old artist opened for Wallen at his two Seattle shows -- held in an NFL football stadium, Lumen Field, that seats some 65,000 fans. She will also open for Wallen's shows in Santa Clara, Calif., Aug. 1-2.

Wilson burst onto the music scene in 2021 with her hit My Jesus and has followed with 17 other songs that landed on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart, including Strong, God and Country and God Story. She collaborated with country star Lainey Wilson on Praying Woman.

Her music blends country roots with a gospel message, and her 2024 album Rebel climbed to No. 10 on the Billboard Country Albums chart as it soared to No. 1 on the Christian Albums chart. Last year, she received a CMT Music Award nomination in the Breakthrough Female Video of the Year category for her song Rain In the Rearview.

"I'm so excited. This is a dream come true for me," she said in a video before the first night. "I think I just look back on my life and I can only see the faithfulness of God to bring me this moment -- to give me this opportunity. I'm only 23 years old and it just blows my mind to see what God has done in my short little life so far. This is a 100 percent God story."

Wallen is her favorite artist, she said, adding it's an "honor" to open for him.

"I can only see the goodness of God, the faithfulness of God and that He writes the best stories," she said.

Fans loved her performances.

"Amazing performance!" one person wrote on her Instagram page. "Tears ran down my face as you sang and praised! Beautifully done!"

"THANK YOU for your music and for coming out to see us in Seattle!!" another wrote. "I had the best time dancing and singing to your songs, and gosh, I could really feel Jesus during your set. Love you, Anne!!!"

"You were incredible!" still another wrote. "We were front row and my newly turned 16 year old daughter sang at the top of her lungs and she got your setlist. We had THE night of our lives."

In May, Wilson told Crosswalk Headlines she's grateful for the chance to share her faith with a wider audience.

"I love that I can have just a bigger audience to reach people for the gospel," she said. "And I love that my songs have been played on country radio -- it's so cool to meYou know, I love just getting to spread the name of Jesus and the hope that He offers. So it's been a really great journey for me."
