Anne Wilson Says Opening for Morgan Wallen Is a Chance to Share Jesus with Thousands

Dove Award-winning singer Anne Wilson is calling her opportunity to open for country star Morgan Wallen this summer a dream realized, saying she's excited to share God's love with longtime fans and newcomers alike. Wilson will open for Wallen four nights this summer, first at Lumen Field in Seattle, Wash. (July 25-26) and the following week at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. (Aug. 1-2). Both venues are massive NFL stadiums that typically host football games, each seating more than 60,000 fans.
Wilson is a CCM artist whose Christian country album, Rebel, has enjoyed crossover success. Last year, she received a CMT Music Award nomination in the Breakthrough Female Video of the Year category for her song Rain In the Rearview.
"He's my dream artist to open for," Wilson told Crosswalk Headlines. "So that alone -- but just getting to spread the gospel with a stadium full of people -- I'm so excited, I cannot wait."
Wallen is the biggest name in country music, with more than 41 million monthly Spotify listeners and seven of the top 10 positions on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, including the top three. In May, 37 of his songs landed on the Billboard Hot 100 -- a record for an artist.
Wilson burst onto the scene in 2021 with her country-tinged debut single, My Jesus. Her sophomore album, Rebel, leaned even further into that country sound, reflecting the musical influences of her youth.
"I love that I can have just a bigger audience to reach people for the gospel," she said of her crossover success. "And I love that my songs have been played on country radio -- it's so cool to me. You know, I love just getting to spread the name of Jesus and the hope that He offers. So it's been a really great journey for me."
Last year, Wilson told Crosswalk she feels led to bridge the gap between faith and mainstream music.
"I love the Christian community and I love getting to share Jesus with people. But I also feel called to take that message into the world outside of the Christian market," she said at the time. "So one of the ways that I feel very called is just by my songs being about the Lord and about His goodness and talking about Him, but the music sounding very country."
The coming months will be busy for Wilson, who recently released a new single, God Story. In addition to more than 20 scheduled tour dates, she's also at work on a new album set to release later this year.
"We're writing and finishing up this record, and I think it's my favorite record I've ever written so far," she said. "So I'm excited."
