Brandon Lake Reveals the Story Behind 500 Baptisms at His Concert

Singer Brandon Lake says a wave of baptisms at one of his concerts was a dream come true, and he credits members of his local church for helping make it happen.
The baptisms took place on the final two nights of his King of Hearts tour in Charleston, S.C., in early May in portable Tractor Supply tanks set up on tennis courts just outside Credit One Stadium. Videos shared on Lake’s social media captured fans publicly professing their faith through baptism in the unusual setting, with some being baptized by Lake himself.
He lives near Charleston.
Lake reflected on the baptisms during a media event at the 2026 K-LOVE Fan Awards, where he won Male Artist of the Year and Artist of the Year.
“My wife inspired me to do the baptisms – that was her dream, and her vision,” Lake said. “Literally, she said, ‘Babe, I think we're supposed to. I just got this vision of us baptizing hundreds of people’ – something that we couldn't do across the country. We haven't figured it out yet. Maybe we'll get there – but we knew we could do it in the hometown.
“And so, two nights in a row – I mean, 12,000 people [attending the concert] each night, and we ended up baptizing over 500 people, if not 600 people, something like that. And I got to utilize the volunteer army at my local church, and so that was just a dream come true.”
He wrote on social media: “THIS IS WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT!”
It’s been a banner year for Lake, who has built on his hit collaboration with Jelly Roll by also teaming up for collaborations with a string of artists, including Nick Jonas, Lainey Wilson, and Bailey Zimmerman.
He said collaborations inspire his creativity.
“I always learn something from them. I think we're better together, and I love when people bring their stories together, and you begin to see perspective, a perspective that maybe you didn't see,” he said. “For example, the Nick Jonas song that I just recently put out – that was something that he brought, and I never really thought about it in that kind of context.”
The Lake/Jonas collaboration, The Author, centers on surrendering control and trusting the One who is writing the story.
“Who am I to question if that's His plan? He's got a better one right here,” Lake said.
Meanwhile, Lake said he rarely struggles with humility, thanks to the people who know him best.
“When I come home, I don't get special treatment. I have friends that have known me since I was 15, and they keep me humble,” he said. “... All of it is a gift from God, and He could take it like that, and so I just want to be a great steward of what He's given me.”
