Bryce Crawford: Young People Are ‘Tired of Fluff’ and Hungry for Jesus

A 22-year-old podcaster who has gained attention for his bold faith and street evangelism says young people are turning to Jesus because they’re tired of “fluff” and are searching for what is true.
Bryce Crawford is a California-based evangelist and host of The Bryce Crawford Podcast who has built a wide audience through his street evangelism and viral conversations about faith. He leads the ministry Jesus in the Street and is currently on a tour that has reached more than 20 cities, with most stops sold out.
Crawford’s rise in popularity has come at the same time another ministry focused on young people, UniteUs, has seen college arenas packed across the nation.

“We're tired of fake stuff, we're tired of fluff,” Crawford told Fox News’ Fox & Friends. “I mean, we're fed fluff through our phones, through desires, through whatever we think is going to satisfy. Every human being is on a quest for love, and we try to fill that void with different things. And I think people are naturally understanding: ‘Wait, this thing isn't working anymore, this isn't going how I thought it was going to go.’
“And so ultimately, people don't just want a truth. They want the truth, and that would be Jesus.”
Crawford himself was once a young person searching for truth. He says a life-changing encounter with Jesus transformed his life and led him into ministry.
“I grew up in a Christian environment. I grew up in the South, grew up around church, but I developed depression and anxiety around the eighth grade. I battled it for years, and when I was 17, I planned on making an irrevocable decision with my life, because I thought that was the only way to get the pain to go away. And the night I was going to make an irrevocable decision – Jesus supernaturally encountered me, and I prayed a prayer. I said, ‘Jesus, if you're real, take away my anxiety and depression’ – and I haven't had it since that day. It's been over five years, and that was my foot in the door to giving my life to Jesus.
“And so ever since that day, because God loved me first, it's just compelled me to meet people where they're at.”
Everyone, he said, has an opinion about Jesus.
“It's just: Do we believe that He is God? And if He is God, then He's worthy of our lives and worship. … People are finally waking up to the truth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and He's the only thing that can satisfy us. I mean, we've lived for so many different things – different people, relationships, substances, different vices, and it doesn't fulfill us. And so people understand that we need something eternal and perfect that can sustain that.”
