Candace Cameron Bure Sees Hope for Faith in Hollywood, Christians Are ‘Less Afraid’

Filmmaker and actress Candace Cameron Bure says the fear of Christians being canceled in Hollywood is starting to fade. Bure made the comments on the red carpet for the Movieguide Awards, telling Fox News Digital that people of faith are more open about their beliefs than in previous years.

“I feel like people are just a little less afraid of being canceled now that they can share their faith openly or whatever their opinions are [even] if they’re not congruent with some other people’s opinions,” she told Fox News Digital.

“And so, I love seeing this in our country, and I’m hopeful. I’m very hopeful.”

Bure is nominated for a Movieguide Award for her performance in A Christmas Less Traveled. The award show will be broadcast on Great American Family March 6 and the next day on Great American Pure Flix.

Meanwhile, Bure expressed heartache but also hope about victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. She formerly lived in the region.

“It’s been so hard, and I have so many friends that lived in the Palisades that lost their homes. It’s going to be a journey. It’s going to be a long time for recovery,” she said. “In the meantime, the community has come together, and we’re all doing what we can to help. Even though I’m not in Los Angeles right now, I’m filming a movie. I’m still in touch with everyone, still have a store that’s open to gather great items for our families that have lost everything. And we’re going to continue to do that. I think that’s the beauty about a community, and Los Angeles has really come together to help.”

Mario Lopez is hosting this year’s Movieguide Awards. The annual event showcases the best in faith and values-driven entertainment. Five films are nominated for Best Family Movie: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Despicable Me 4, Inside Out 2, The Wild Robot, and Mufasa: The Lion King.
