Chris Pratt Urges Fans to Remember the True Meaning of Christmas: Jesus Is the ‘Greatest Gift’

Big-screen star Chris Pratt is encouraging fans to focus on the true meaning of Christmas this holiday season, describing Jesus as the “greatest gift” ever given to humanity.
The actor, who is known for his roles in the Jurassic World, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Lego Movie franchises, offered the advice this week in a video promoting the Christian meditation/prayer app Hallow, which includes Pratt guiding listeners through a popular faith-based book, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, by author John Mark Comer.
“It's the most wonderful time of year, Christmas, the joy, the family time, the presents, the cookies,” Pratt says in the playful clip as he tosses the dessert over his shoulder.
“The real reason I love Christmas – it's so much more important – it's because we are celebrating the greatest gift God has ever given us, and that is His Son, Jesus Christ,” Pratt adds before encouraging fans to download the Hallow app.
“Together, we can focus on what's really important about this extraordinary season.”
In an accompanying message, Pratt adds that he regularly reflects on a specific Bible verse, Psalm 46:10.
“The words ‘Be Still and Know that I am God’ are words I recite in my head every single day,” he wrote. “... Our lives are moving so fast, we just need to take a minute, especially at Christmas, and focus on the reason for the season, which is for sure not cookies.”
Pratt has emerged as one of Hollywood’s more vocal Christians.
“Faith is … the best part of my life, and I feel as though I've been given this platform, and I just feel called to share it,” he told Fox News earlier this year.
He told The Christian Post that speaking out about faith sometimes requires boldness.
“You take a risk, I think, being in the entertainment world [in] being vocal about anything that's divisive – and religion is divisive, and so is politics,” he said. “I don’t care enough about politics to take a stand one way or another at the expense of my career. But I do care enough about Jesus to take a stand, even if it costs me. If it costs me everything, I don’t care.”
Although Pratt's face is well-known to movie fans, his voice is, too, thanks to appearances in a string of animated movies such as The Lego Movie, The Lego Movie 2, Pixar’s Onward, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
