Christian Couple Reaches Semis of ‘America’s Favorite Couple’ Contest, Pointing to Jesus

The semifinals of a contest seeking to find "America's Favorite Couple" feature a Christian husband and wife who say their marriage is built on Jesus. Aaron and Tabby Fullan of Illinois advanced to the semifinals of the popular America's Favorite Couple contest, which is hosted by actor Jeff Goldblum and his wife Emilie. The contest raises money for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana, an organization dedicated to ocean conservation.

The winner receives $20,000 and a feature in a Variety advertorial. Voting for the semifinal round ends Thursday at 10 p.m. Eastern, with 14 couples advancing to the finals. Fans can vote online for free.

Aaron, an actor, composer, and content creator, told Crosswalk Headlines that "there is always a bright side when you have Jesus."

"Understanding that marriage is a reflection of Christ and His church (Ephesians 5) gives us the ability to 'play the long game' when it comes to the challenges we inevitably face as a couple," he told Crosswalk Headlines. "It isn't about us. It's about Him, and we have the privilege of representing Him [albeit imperfectly] by fulfilling His directive to love one another as He loved us. So many people go into marriage looking for what they can get out of it rather than what they can put into it, which is a recipe for marital disaster. Selfless, sacrificial love, on the other hand, can endure storms that many would deem impassable."

The contest celebrates couples "who share a genuine connection, a compelling love story, and an undeniable spark," according to its website.

"Whether you're newlyweds, lifelong partners, or a dynamic duo with a story that inspires, entertains, or warms hearts -- this is your moment," the website says.

Aaron Fullan has acted in faith-based and family films, including Surprised by Oxford and Carol, while his music has been featured in Adventures in Odyssey, Tuttle Twins, and Teen Titans Go!

Aaron and Tabby first met at Emmaus University, a Christian school in Dubuque, Iowa.

"Tabby was my first girlfriend," he wrote in the couple's bio on the contest page. "We became fast friends and spent so much time together that we decided to get married so we could just go on spending time together for the rest of our lives. Oh yeah, and have babies (we have 4 of them)."

One of their favorite memories, he recalled, was removing a screen from their apartment window so they could climb onto the garage rooftop and stargaze together.

He said reading the Bible and praying together each day is vital to their marriage -- along with making time for date nights.

"It's so important to set aside undistracted time to be together, so that your wife can have uninterrupted time to talk to you as long as she wants," he said. "Trust me, YOUR WIFE NEEDS THIS. (Tabby wrote this last part, can you tell?)"
