Christians Split over Viral AI Videos That Put Bible Characters on TikTok

A wave of viral AI videos puts Bible figures like Jonah and Noah on TikTok. Some call it creative evangelism. Others say it crosses a line. What do you think?
Christians Split over Viral AI Videos That Put Bible Characters on TikTok

Imagine Moses as a social media influencer. Or David, or Samuel, or even … Mary. If biblical characters had smartphones -- and the internet existed in their day -- what would they post, and how would they appear?

That's the idea behind a series of new viral AI-generated videos on TikTok and other social media platforms that depict realistic-looking CGI biblical characters discussing the major events of Scripture.

As Relevant noted in a story about the trend"reactions are split" among Christians.

Most videos span 30 to 60 seconds.

A TikTok video of Daniel with 6.8 million views from "holyvlogsz" depicts him standing near a window -- smiling casually -- as he updates viewers on his day: "Hey, everyone. Daniel here. So the king signed a law banning prayer for 30 days. I prayed. Let's see how that goes." A few seconds later, Daniel is walking through the city, guards at his side, as he calmly announces, "They're throwing me into the lion's den. I'll film what I can." The final moments of the video depict a joyful Daniel walking between lions as he whispers, "Welcome to my crib. That one's asleep. That one's just staring at me. Honestly, they're kind of chill, but I'm whispering because I really don't want to wake the angry one." In the scene's final moment, Daniel walks out grinning as he says, "Thank God … literally."

The same TikTok influencer posted videos of Judas, Noah, Eve, Jonah, Mary and David. All total, they have nearly 20 million views.

"Today, I'm delivering bread and cheese to my brothers in the middle of a war," David says, moments before the scene changes and he updates viewers on the giant, Goliath.

"Day 1 of ark building," Noah says. "Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but wait until the rain hits."

AI filmmaker PJ Ace said the videos are "super easy" to make and are "exploding" on TikTok.

"Now this is how you bring the Bible to life," one user wrote below a video.

"Yeah. We're doomed. If this is how fast it's accelerating, imagine in 20 years," another wrote.

"This feels like blasphemy," still another wrote.

"It would be better if they were accurate complexion," a critic added.

"I mean, as long as it is biblical and it draws people to the Bible and to Jesus Christ," a supporter wrote, "I'm all for it!"
