Ella Langley Says Christ Changed Her Life: I Can't 'Shut Up About It'

In the past year, Langley has also become increasingly bold in her faith, as demonstrated by a viral video of her speaking from the stage at a June 18 concert in Oklahoma City.

Over the past year – “365 days and a little more than that,” she said – “I've read my Bible almost every single day.”

Scripture has become her first source of guidance and comfort, she said.

“Instead of trying to go to other things like I have before, either men or drugs or other feelings to try to make myself feel a certain way, I go to Him first – and that's something that's changed about me in the last year.”

Langley acknowledged that there was a time a year ago when she questioned her career choices and even whether life was worth living. Social media, she said, can amplify those struggles, particularly when “everyone [knows] who you are, but you don't know them.”

“Everyone having an opinion on who you are, and they have no idea who you are – really, they don't spend a day with you. They just see kind of the outside stuff – that's hard. But I'll tell you right now, the thing that changed my mind is I realized that I have a purpose in this life, and my purpose is to stand up here, share my testimony, to be honest  with my fans.”

Langley told the crowd that her faith in God not only gave her a renewed sense of purpose but also changed her perspective on life.

“Don't expect me to stand up here and be perfect, because I'm never gonna stand up here and be perfect. I just want you to expect me to stand up here and be here with you tonight. That's all I want. If you don't remember anything from this show, I want you to remember this. Last year, I didn't think I wanted to be here anymore, and when I'm standing here right now, I'm so grateful for the day that I was given."

“And the only thing that has changed my mind on that situation is our God. So tonight, if you feel that way – if you feel like life is too much, it's too hard, there's too many consequences, there's too many hard choices, there's too many right or left turns, I don't know which way to go – I just want you to remember that there's only there's one North Star, and we all know Who that is."

“But if you just wake up and focus on that every day, you give 1 percent better than the day you gave before, you're gonna get through it, and you're gonna be back to living life again. I promise you.”

While opening for Morgan Wallen in Chicago this summer, she delivered a similar message.

“You know, it feels like my relationship with Christ has changed over the last 365 days,” she said. “A little more than that. I went [from] every show of my life without even mentioning His name to not being able to shut up about it.”

Langley’s song "Speaking Terms" explores themes of faith.

“And I’ve done things in my life that make me feel not worthy of this song [Speaking Terms]. But I’ll tell one thing: who makes me feel worthy is Him. I’m always worthy. He’s gonna meet me where I’m at, no matter where I’m at.”
