Forrest Frank Lifts Up Jesus Before 70,000 at Houston Rodeo
More than 70,000 people packed a sold-out NRG Stadium in Houston Sunday night to hear perhaps the hottest name in Christian music declare the name of Jesus.
Forrest Frank sang his upbeat hits and his more worshipful anthems to a massive crowd at the Houston Rodeo, an annual event that spans three weeks and draws more than 2 million visitors.
Frank is a Texas native.
Each fall, NRG Stadium is home to the Houston Texans, but on Sunday night, the football venue became something different – part rodeo, part worship gathering – as Frank led the crowd in singing along to songs about faith.
Tickets to Frank’s concert sold out in less than 30 minutes. He wasn’t the only performer scheduled for this year’s Houston Rodeo. Other artists on the lineup include Megan Moroney, Kelly Clarkson, Lainey Wilson, Chris Stapleton, Tim McGraw, and Lizzo.
Frank won Artist of the Year at the 2025 Dove Awards.
“I go by the name of – it’s not important because there’s only one name above all names that’s important – the one who is, the one who was, the one who is to come. That’s the name of Jesus Christ,” Frank said at the beginning of the show.
Frank’s grandfather, Neil Frank, spent more than two decades as KHOU 11's chief meteorologist in Houston and was a familiar presence on local broadcasts. He died last year at 94 and appears in videos shown during Frank’s concerts, including footage from a Billy Graham crusade.
“This is super special,” Frank told the crowd about his appearances at the rodeo.
“There's this thing [in the Bible] about generational blessings. And my grandfather had a lot of blessings to give. And he used to speak over me and his grandchildren as a whole. He said, ‘You know, the Bible says that we are allowed to pass down blessings, and so whatever the Lord has given me, I ask that the Lord will pass it to you.’ And so now I'm here at the Houston Rodeo lifting up the name of Jesus, and I like to believe it is because of these blessings.”
Frank impressed Joey Guerra, a music critic for the Houston Chronicle.
“Frank has found a sweet spot among young fans in Christian music, and it’s easy to see why,” Guerra wrote. “His songs have an earnest, up-with-people vibe similar to Owl City, Andy Grammer, and early Maroon 5. He’s also savvy on social media. … Despite a weekend of storms, Frank sent the crowd home with a forecast that was – much like his music – unapologetically sunny.”
