Forrest Frank Shares Battle with Suicidal Thoughts, Testifies to Freedom in Christ

Christian artist Forrest Frank revealed this month that he once battled suicidal thoughts but found freedom in Christ, who met him in his darkest moments. The Your Way’s Better singer opened up about his past at Grand Canyon University during a UniteUS event that drew 7,000 students to the school’s basketball facility, Global Credit Union Arena, and saw 4,300 rededicate their lives to Christ. UniteUS is a student-driven movement that highlights worship, testimony, and gospel proclamation on university campuses.

Frank, 30, told the students there was a time when who he appeared to be “on the outside and who I was on the inside were two different people.” GCU News covered his remarks. Frank attended Baylor University and experienced a life-changing encounter with Christ during his sophomore year.

“There were points in my life where I felt suicidal, and I wanted to end my life,” Frank said. “And the beauty of that is I died with Christ. My flesh is gone, and forever. I get to live in eternity with Him.”

Frank is a chart-topping singer whose genre-blending style has helped introduce Christian music to a new generation. His videos have drawn a massive following on TikTok, where his songs often spark viral engagement. He recalled attending a worship service where he fell to his knees and “surrendered to Him.”

“From that day, everything changed,” Frank said. “When I fully surrendered to Jesus, everything changed from that point.”

He urged students to “fully surrender to God” and to tell Him, “You can have it all.”

“You can have my reputation. You can have all my plans,” he said, recounting his own testimony. “I gave everything to Jesus. I laid everything at the altar. I said, ‘You can have it.’”

UniteUS has three stops on the calendar for November: Cincinnati (Nov. 5), North Carolina State (Nov. 11), and Clemson (Nov. 18). Since its launch, UniteUS gatherings have drawn over 125,000 students across 21 campuses, with more than 20,000 making decisions to follow Christ, according to GCU News

“Gen Z, you are the hope,” UniteUS founder Tonya Prewett said. “And you are bringing the greatest revival our nation has ever seen. We will never stop fighting for you, for your generation, because you are worth fighting for.”
