Award-winning Christian singer Forrest Frank went viral Wednesday with an election-inspired post that touched on abortion and transgender issues and ended with a call for Christians to prioritize their families and stay close to God. The Dove Award-winning singer posted the video one day after Democrats took control of the House and Senate, amid a national campaign that largely ignored social issues and instead focused on topics such as gas and grocery prices.
Frank, though, said his social media feed was flooded with posts making light of abortion and joking about children transitioning. His video drew 1.1 million likes, 40,000 comments and 125,000 reposts.
“I'm probably gonna lose so many followers for this, and I try to stay out of politics. But sometimes I feel like it's important to speak up,” he said in the video.
“I got on social media, and my feed was flooded, and it was stuff like, ‘We're gonna invent new genders you haven't even imagined yet’ -- 30,000 likes on that. ‘We're gonna trans your kids so bad’ -- 46,000 likes on that. ‘Throws Amex down at the abortion clinic. Keep the tab open.’”
Frank warned against treating such matters as a joke.
“Guys -- you don't want to mess around with this. Do not mess around with God. Do not mess around with the family.
“The final verse in the Old Testament reads as this: ‘He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to the fathers. Otherwise, I will destroy the land,’” Frank said, citing Malachi 4:6.
“If we lose the family, we lose everything,” Frank said. “I want you to do two things. One, to encourage you to be activated. Pray, discern, read your Word, hold your family tight, lead your family. Let's be the soldiers that we signed up to be for the Kingdom. And secondly, be encouraged, because God is the victor. He wins, and at the end of the day, every knee will bow.”
Frank wrote alongside the video: “Politics swing left and right … but If we lose the family, we lose everything. Don’t play around with God’s children.”
The post drew support from several prominent Christian entertainers. Actress Candace Cameron Bure wrote simply “Amen” alongside an emoji of praying hands. Fellow singer Josiah Queen signaled his agreement with a string of exclamation points. Actor Lucas Black also chimed in, writing, “Yes sirrrrrr brother.”
