‘House of David’ Creators Unveil ‘Epic’ New Moses Series Starring Ben Kingsley

The filmmakers and company behind the hit series House of David have announced a new series about another Bible character – one instantly recognizable the world over.

Wonder Project this week released the trailer for The Old Stories: Moses, which is billed as a three-part “companion” series starring Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, Schindler’s List, Young Washington) as Moses and Emmy Award nominee O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale) as Pharaoh.

It will debut on Wonder Project – a streaming service on Prime Video – this spring.

House of David creator Jon Erwin directed, wrote, and executive produced The Old Stories: Moses.

“Moses is one of the most iconic figures in history, and his story still resonates with us today,” Erwin said. “We set out to tell The Old Stories: Moses with a cinematic awe and scale that feels both epic and personal. I am especially proud of the cast performances, and I can’t wait for people to see it on Wonder Project.”

It also stars Louis Ferreira as Jesse, Anna Khaja as Zipporah, and Rada Rae as Avva.

The two-minute trailer opens with an elderly Moses recounting a fire-engulfed bush from which the voice of God spoke: “He told me that I must return to Egypt, to the place of my birth, to where my people are in bondage.”

The trailer then depicts a scene of Moses confronting a stubborn Pharaoh: “I come on behalf of God. … If you resist Him, you’ll suffer a fate worse than theirs.”

“I will never let your people go,” Pharaoh responds.

The trailer ends with a brief glimpse of Moses standing with his staff before the sea, the waters rising on either side before dramatically parting.

The Old Stories: Moses was executive produced by Jon Gunn and Justin Rosenblatt, with Gavin J. Behrman serving as co-executive producer and Adam Abel as producer.
