Seahawks’ Ernest Jones Declares His Faith in Jesus in Viral Locker Room Moment

Video of an NFL star declaring his faith in Christ during a locker room speech has gone viral, underscoring that faith remains alive and well in today’s sports world.

The video of Seattle starting linebacker Ernest Jones was posted on the Seahawks’ official social media account after he recorded a team-leading 12 tackles to go along with two interceptions and a touchdown in his team’s 26-0 victory Sunday over Minnesota.

“I’ve been through a lot this year, but earlier this week – I told a couple of guys – I found myself feeling stuck, and I found myself feeling like I was missing something, and what I was missing was God,” Jones told his teammates to cheers and applause.

“I got back on my knees. I started back praying – and just look at what we got. It’s bigger than this interception. It’s bigger than that. I got my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ back, and I'm with my boys.”

The video has more than 200,000 views across all platforms – with plenty of positive feedback, too.

“I love seeing him testify,” one person wrote.

“Sounds like a man that has his head straight,” another wrote.

Jones’ 85-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter thwarted Minnesota’s only major threat and gave the Seahawks a 10-0 lead.

Jones was drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft and quickly emerged as an instinctive linebacker who helped the Rams win a Super Bowl as a rookie. After a brief stop in Tennessee, he was traded to Seattle in October 2024, where he has since become a cornerstone of the Seahawks’ defense.

During a post-game press conference Sunday, Jones said his renewed focus is on living out his faith beyond the field.

“Once football is over with, you know, not too many people are going to remember the football player,” Jones said, according to Sports Spectrum. “I want everybody to remember the person.”

Jones added that he wants to honor God with his character.

“At the end of the day when we leave this earth,” he said, “what type of person were you? Can people count on you? Can people trust you?”
