Tarot Card Reader with 1 Million Followers Becomes Christian, Deletes Content

A well-known tarot card reader says she has become a Christian and has deleted her tarot content, saying she could no longer reconcile it with her newfound faith in Jesus.

Alex, known online as “Alex Reads Tarot,” told followers she had spent the past year growing in her faith before concluding she could no longer practice tarot. She said she had deleted her tarot content, stepped away from her platform, and now wants to use her social media presence to point others to Christ, FaithWire reported. She has nearly 1 million social media followers.

“I don’t know exactly what comes next for me, but what I do know is that Jesus Christ has saved my life, and I can no longer ignore that reality,” she said.

In a 10-minute video posted to Instagram and TikTok, she announced that she had deleted all of her tarot-related content and would no longer create videos centered on tarot readings.

Alex’s popularity had even reached the music world. Singer Hayley Williams of Paramore references her in the song Love Me Different, which describes a bout of late-night social media scrolling and includes the line: “up ‘til 3, Alex Reads Tarot, reads the s--- out of me.”

Alex, in her video, acknowledged the many online friends she had made around the world – but said her newfound faith demands a lifestyle change.

“This is what makes this so difficult,” she said, according to FaithWire. “But, over the past nearly year, something has begun to change in me on my journey. I noticed that, as my faith grew, I began to find myself wrestling with questions that I couldn’t quite ignore.”

She said that internal struggle became impossible to dismiss.

“What started feeling as something that I couldn’t quite explain began to grow into something that I couldn’t quite ignore anymore,” Alex said. “If you told me a year ago I’d be making this video, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. But one thing that I’ve come to realize is that life can gently shift in ways that we don’t always see coming.”

“I know that some people may find this decision surprising – and some people may wonder how I can be saying this after spending years of doing the work that I’ve done – but all I can do is be honest,” she said.

She arrived at the decision only after prayer, she said.

“The more that I’ve prayed, the more that I’ve reflected and sought God, the more that I’ve realized that I couldn’t ignore where this journey was leading me, and I know, I know that some people may be disappointed by this decision, some people may be surprised, and others may have questions that I can’t fully answer, and I do understand that,” Alex said, according to Church Leaders.

“All I can say is that this hasn’t been an easy conclusion for me to come to,” she added. “It’s been something that I’ve wrestled with for a while now, and I’ve only just arrived here after a great deal of reflection and searching, and I hope people can see that this does come from a sincere place, from a desire to be honest about where I am today.”

Alex has since launched a faith-centric Instagram channel devoted to her newfound faith: AlexBelongstoChrist.
