‘The Chosen’ Season 6 Release Date Revealed, Will Highlight Cross and Crucifixion

The studio behind The Chosen has unveiled the release date for the long-awaited Season 6, which will depict the crucifixion of Christ and set the stage for the final season of the popular series.

5&2 Studios announced over the weekend that the first three episodes of Season 6 will debut on Prime Video Nov. 15, followed by a new episode releasing each week through Dec. 6. As previously announced, the season finale will be released as a standalone theatrical event in spring 2027.

Season 6 “captures the historic events of Jesus’ final day through the lives of those who love Him – and those who condemn Him,” a news release said.

“Pharisees call it justice. Romans call it peace. Followers call it murder. But in the face of loneliness and death, Jesus stands resolute in his plan that has always led to one place: the cross,” it added. “The Chosen Season 6 reveals how Jesus’ final hours changed the world forever.”

“Everyone knows the basics of this part of the story, but not everyone knows the ‘why’ of the crucifixion and the extraordinary events of these 24 hours,” said Dallas Jenkins, creator and director of The Chosen. “We realized this not only deserved a season of television but a standalone full-length theatrical event as well. We wrote and filmed all of it with this in mind.”

Jonathan Roumie returns as Jesus. Andrew James Allen portrays Pontius Pilate.

“There is no Resurrection without the cross,” Roumie wrote on Instagram. “This is the reality of Salvation.”

Jenkins echoed that theme in an Instagram comment, emphasizing the purpose behind Season 6.

“Our portrayal isn’t Jesus himself, but it’s meant to give you an understanding not only of what He went through, but of what He wants us to understand,” Jenkins wrote.

The first five seasons are available on Prime Video and The Chosen app.

Season 7 – which is being filmed this year – will spotlight the resurrection.
