'The Chosen' Unveils Dramatic Season 6 Trailer: First Look at Jesus' Final Hours

Fans of "The Chosen" got their first extended glimpse of Season 6 on Thursday when a full-length trailer debuted, featuring powerful scenes of Jonathan Roumie as Jesus on the road to the cross and the disciples struggling to understand what it all means.
The trailer opens with Judas wandering through the bustling streets of Jerusalem as Mary, the mother of Jesus, watches him intently. It closes with a sobering scene of Jesus, His face bloodied and a crown of thorns on His head, gazing toward the hill where He will be crucified.
In between, viewers see Jesus being questioned by Jewish religious leaders and brought before the Roman governor Pontius Pilate, who presses Him about His identity and the accusations against Him.
Season 6 debuts on Prime Video Nov. 15.
“Tell us, are you the Christ, the Son of God?” a voice offscreen asks Jesus, seconds before the trailer ends.
Earlier in the trailer, though, Jesus makes clear that His mission is unfolding according to a divine purpose, declaring, “For this purpose, I was born, and for this purpose, I have come into the world, to reveal the truth.”
“This is a big season,” creator and director Dallas Jenkins said in a separate video Wednesday for fans.
Season 6 will spotlight the hours leading up to the crucifixion and its immediate aftermath, while Season 7 will focus on the resurrection.
“This is it. We’re at the toughest part,” Jenkins wrote on the official Instagram page of The Chosen. “Season Six covers the 24 hours of the events surrounding Jesus’ death.
“It was painful to shoot, and it’s painful to contemplate. But if there’s one thing I want you to take away from this season, it’s that Jesus chose this path. He even tells the apostles he could be rescued from it if he wanted. He chose surrender and humility and sacrifice. Knowing that should make this story a little less painful.”
Starting Nov. 15 on Prime Video, Jenkins wrote, fans will “experience the climax of what’s been building for five seasons.”
“Season Five was the powder keg,” Jenkins wrote. “In Season Six, it explodes.”
