‘Uncle Si’ Honors Late Brother Phil Robertson with Emotional Gospel-Centric Tribute

The Duck Dynasty star, best known as “Uncle Si” is paying tribute to his late brother Phil Robertson, saying Phil regretted his checkered past but wanted to spread the Good News about the God who saved him. Si Robertson made the comments Saturday in a social media post as a movie about Phil Robertson -- The Blind -- re-releases in theaters in a special tribute to the Duck Dynasty patriarch, who died May 25.

The Blind will be in theaters Aug. 31 through Sept. 5.

“Phil was my older brother for 77 years. We’re apart for now, but that ain’t nothing but a change of address for Phil,” Si Robertson wrote. “Watching The Blind come back to theaters this month hits me in a different way. It’s not just pictures and memories. It’s my brother’s life laid out for the world to see.”

The Blind recounts Phil Robertson’s early years as an angry, alcohol-addicted husband before his life was transformed by Christ. It also spotlights the romance between him and his wife, Kay Robertson.

“Look, we both made messes. But watching that movie, you can feel it all the way to your bones that no matter how far you fall, God will pick you up, dust you off, and make you right,” Si Robertson wrote. “There’s nothing he can’t do. And there’s nothing we can do to make him stop loving us. Phil was embarrassed of his past, but he never let that get in the way of telling his story. He wanted every last one of you to know that God’s love and grace and forgiveness are for all of us.”

Si Robertson, who was Phil’s older brother, encouraged fans to watch the film and “hear that message of hope.”

“It’s not too late for any of us,” he wrote.

The Blind is rated PG-13 for thematic content and smoking. It also included minor language.
