The city of Clearfield, Utah, hosted an early Halloween community celebration for a special little Spider-Man-loving boy who will be in the hospital on the actual holiday. The 3-year-old, Wyatt Wright, was born with a congenital heart condition and has an upcoming major open-heart surgery. When his mom asked for help throwing him an early Halloween, the community all pitched in.

Little Wyatt was really looking forward to wearing his Spidey suit for Halloween alongside his big brother, Bennett. But his mom knew his upcoming operation would prevent him from trick-or-treating. So she took to social media to ask the community to participate in an early trunk-or-treat so that Wyatt could still have his Halloween.

About 60 cars showed up with their trunks on display, and nearly 500 people attended. Local businesses pitched in, too, and the fire department even brought in a fire truck for the kids to check out. There was also a gift basket raffle to support Wyatt’s medical costs.

Family Blown Away by All the Support

Wyatt’s mom, Liberty Wright, was blown away by all of the love and support.

“I'm like, how? We don't know any of you guys, and you're treating us as incredibly as possible," Liberty said tearfully. "...It's nice to have something good to cry about when you're going through so much."

It May Be the Start of An Annual Tradition

Liberty says she hopes that the same event can happen next year in support of another child with a congenital heart condition. And if the support shown by Clearfield is any indication, then it surely will.

“There is no way to put it into words how grateful we are for the amazing response from our friends, family, and community at Wyatt’s Trunk or Treat!” she said.

It is such a beautiful thing that this community banded together to support Wyatt and give him the Halloween he’d been looking forward to. He had a great time being Spider-Man for the day.

“Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
