Brothers Out on a Walk Didn't Think Twice about Saving a Drowning Boy

Brothers out on a walk didn’t think twice about saving a drowning boy. This moment is just so incredible! When heaven bends low, and ordinary people step into extraordinary moments. That’s exactly what happened when the Castelo family found themselves standing beside a Florida lake, moments before a tragedy could have unfolded.

On Sunday evening, cries for help rang out near Holiday Springs Boulevard in Margate. Without hesitation, Alexander Castelo, 35, ran toward the water and spotted a 6-year-old boy face down in the lake. “I saw him floating,” Alexander recalled.

His brother, Jonathan, 31, rushed to his side, helping pull the child out of the water, while their sister, Amy, dialed 911. Their wives, Jessica and Theresa, relayed frantic updates to dispatchers, guiding help to the scene. Jessica even ran to the road, waving down first responders.

Every sibling played a part. Every hand was needed. And as Alexander pressed into chest compressions—lessons tucked away since his teenage Boy Scout days—life began to stir again. “I felt some relief when I heard him cry,” Alexander said, emotion in his voice.

God Allowed Them to Be There at That Time and Place

But here’s where the story stuns: just hours earlier, their family had gathered to celebrate the baptism of a 4-month-old baby. Holy water. Sacred prayers. And then, not long after, God placed them at the edge of another body of water—this time to bring rescue.

“I believe that God allowed us to be there to help this kid and that gives me an outlook that there is something out there guiding us,” Alexander said quietly. “I believe it.”

They Called it a Divine Intervention

The siblings call it divine intervention. And how could it be anything else? A mother’s cries carried across a lake. Brothers leaping without hesitation. Sisters and wives linking arms to help. And a child’s life restored because a family was willing to act.

You can’t help but read this story and feel a holy hush. To see how God uses everyday people, in everyday moments, for miracles that change the course of someone’s life.

It’s the reminder we all need: God is still writing stories of rescue. And sometimes the pen He uses is us.

So, share this story. Let it ripple outward. Because when courage meets kindness and faith meets action, miracles are never far behind.
