2,397 Golden Retrievers Gather Together in Buenos Aires and It's Way Too Cute

Thousands of dog lovers recently got together in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for a golden retriever gathering. The fun and furry event broke a Guinness World Record. And everyone had a tail-wagging good time.

Buenos Aires’ Bosques de Palermo park had a total of 2,397 golden retrievers gathered there on Dec. 8. The previous record was set in Vancouver, Canada, last year, where 1,685 golden retrievers gathered in the same place.

Argentinian influencer Fausto Duperré organized the event and attended with his 10-year-old golden boy, Oli.

"We made it, folks. WE ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD 🇦🇷🏆," Duperré said. "We have the world record for the largest golden joint! I can't explain my happiness, I can't explain my emotion. We made it through. Just THANK YOU ✨🏆🇦🇷.”

Social media dubbed photos from the event as the “Golden Wave.”

Gentle and Playful pups

"Since we were children, she's been a constant presence in our family. We've had vacations with her. We've done everything together," Nicolás Orellana said about his 13-year-old retriever, Luna. "[The golden retriever] is a type of dog that's known to create a special bond."

Many of the dogs wore costumes, such as Santa hats or jerseys, and owners mingled and took photos.

“I was afraid I would lose her, I was afraid she would fight, I was afraid another dog would attack her,” said 64-year-old Elena Deleo of her golden retriever, Angie. “But no, they’re all affectionate, all gentle. ... It’s just a very lovely experience.”
