It Terrified Him When His Mom Hit Her Knees But the Quick-Thinking 12-Year-Old Saved Her Life

Life is full of unpredictability. No one can be entirely sure what will take place from one minute to the next. In life, the only certainties, as the old saying goes, are death and taxes. Individuals can be here one second and gone the next.

That’s the situation that one family was faced with in Eden Prairie, Texas, a city just outside of Dallas, last August.

Isaiah Subia was home sick from school when he noticed something was off about his mother, Stephanie Subia, according to NBCDFW.

The situation began as 12-year-old Isaiah Subia was helping with household chores. He was folding laundry while on the couch. Isaiah then noticed his mother did something odd and unusual that caught his attention.

While attempting to put away dishes in the kitchen, she fell to the ground onto her knees, Isaiah told the outlet. Additionally, Stephanie was unable to speak.

It was later determined that she experienced a stroke.

However, despite feeling “scared and nervous,” Isaiah acted. Isaiah immediately reached out to 911 and his grandmother.

Mere minutes later, first responders were on the scene, loading Stephanie into the ambulance. On the way to the hospital, while inside the ambulance with his mother and medics, Isaiah informed them of what exactly had transpired.

He told them about the symptoms she was exhibiting. He also had the presence of mind to bring her medications with him.

In all medical emergencies, time is crucial, and that was certainly the case with Stephanie.

The Child Was Praised for His Quick-Thinking Actions As His Mother Suffered A Stroke

A doctor mentioned just how important Isaiah’s moves were for his mother’s safety.

“The best thing was that her son noticed something was wrong and reacted quickly,” Dr. Brian Tulbert said. “The sooner you get to a hospital, the more we can do for you.”

Also, a nurse, Rachel Cochran, commented on Isaiah’s speedy and heroic actions.

“When Stephanie came into the hospital, she couldn’t speak at all. Not only that, but she couldn’t move one side of her body,” Rachel said. “But with the help of her son, we were able to treat her in 27 minutes, which is amazing.”

Stephanie spent 10 days in the hospital before she was released to go home to continue recuperating from the stroke.

While Rachel praised Isaiah for helping his mother, Stephanie thanked someone else: the good Lord.

“I give God all the glory because if he wasn’t here, I wouldn’t be alive today,” Stephanie said.

Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” - Proverbs 22:6
