A Phony Appeal to Class Warfare
President Obama is once again flogging the so-called "Buffett Tax," named after billionaire Warren Buffett, who has said people like him should pay more taxes.
The liberal New York Times agrees. In its lead editorial Wednesday, the Times says, "Raising income taxes on the wealthiest Americans is a necessary way to combat inequality, but it is only a start."
The president denies he wants to redistribute wealth, but he does. And income inequality is a phony appeal to class warfare. My income doesn't equal Donald Trump's, but I'm not complaining. The Donald doesn't owe me anything. If people want more income they should make decisions that will bring it to them: Stay in school, get married before having children, be honest, don't take drugs, work hard.
The president can't run on his record so he engages in demagoguery and the old liberal playbook to divert attention from it.
That's the American way, capitalism! President Obama and the New York Times are promoting the socialist way.
