Change We Don’t Believe In

December 7, 2009

The Senate is moving ahead with health care, trying to dump every left-wing idea it can get through. The latest is an amendment from Barbara Mikulski, Maryland Democrat.  Pro-lifers believe it contains stealth language that will allow women to receive abortions paid for by the federal government. The language could be interpreted to mean that abortion is a "preventive" measure.

Then we have the amendment passed Thursday that cuts $400 billion from Medicare. And liberals say with a straight face that Medicare will improve and more people will be covered. If you believe that, you believe there really is a Santa Claus and Tiger Woods is faithful to his wife.

People thought they were getting change they could believe in when they elected this band of far-left brothers and sisters last November. Instead, the polls show they are getting change they hadn't anticipated. But if they had been paying attention, they should have anticipated it. There were plenty of signals. They have a chance to undo the damage next November, but that leaves a lot of time for more damage to be done. You'd better pay attention next time.
