Keep the Heat on Health Care ‘Reform’

September 9, 2009

Tonight may be the biggest night of President Obama's presidency so far. He will address a joint meeting of Congress and the nation on health care reform. We can expect to hear his own ideas for transforming one-sixth of the nation's economy.

Is this something the government should be trusted with? What does government do well enough to allow politicians to have control over our well-being? Never has "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you" sounded more like a scam.

In a speech to labor union activists Monday, the president vowed to push forward on the so-called public option. He may have to settle for an incremental approach, which would achieve the same end but attempt to fool the public that it isn't what it is. There are many ways to cure what's wrong with insurance companies and hospitals, but the government writing prescriptions is not the way. The public should keep the heat on. It's your health and your life and government should not have the power to take it over.
