Desperate people do desperate things. President Obama and the Democrats have escalated their envy war against the productive by suggesting the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is channeling foreign money to use against Democratic congressional candidates.

Asked for evidence on Sunday's Face the Nation, top Obama advisor David Axelrod asked host Bob Schieffer a question: "Have you any evidence they are not?" That isn't an answer and Axelrod doesn't have any evidence. If he did, he would produce it. He and the president are engaged in a smear. The chamber adamantly denies taking foreign money for political campaigns, which, by the way, would be illegal.

The president says "we don't know" who is paying for the campaigns because contributors don't have to disclose. That is disingenuous at best.

The Democrats are losing public approval because their policies have failed. No other explanation is needed.
