Security Alone Won’t Protect Us from Jihadists

December 30, 2009

The attempted destruction of that Northwest Airlines flight continues to dominate the news. The latest report is that the suspect sewed explosives in his underwear.

The jihadists are constantly testing our security to see what they might get away with and this guy nearly killed 300 people. The 23-year-old Nigerian suspect has said there are at least 25 more British-born Muslims ready to blow up Western passenger planes. I don't doubt it.

What I doubt is the west's resolve to defeat this enemy. We won't profile and we won't stop letting Muslims into our countries from nations where fundamentalist Islam is on the rise. We allow them to build mosques where some preach hate. We allow them to radicalize prisoners. We allow them to build Islamic schools funded by Saudi Arabia. This would be like giving permission to the Nazis and the Japanese during World War II to conduct activities in Britain and America.

Statements from President Obama and promises of a security review mean nothing without reforms in political correctness.
