A Nebraska doctor who helped the late George Tiller perform late-term abortions in Wichita is bringing his grisly business to Washington, D.C. You may remember Tiller, who was murdered while handing out bulletins at his church. Now his colleague, LeRoy Carhart, says he will open new clinics in Iowa and the Washington, D.C. area. What, there aren't enough murders already in Washington?

Carhart says the laws are less restrictive in Washington and Iowa. Those laws should be tightened, but given D.C.'s anti-life culture at all levels, that seems unlikely. Carhart says the D.C. area clinic will open December 6. Oh good, just in time for Christmas when believers celebrate the greatest of all births.

Other than for an extreme medical condition there are no valid reasons to kill a child who could live outside the womb. Most late term abortions are performed for convenience. Adoption is a far better choice and many want to adopt a child. Pro-lifers should lobby Iowa and Washington to tighten laws against late-term abortions. In Washington, Congress can do something about that if the city government won't.
