Town Hall Meetings: Accountability!
August 11, 2009

What to make of the town hall meetings and the disruptions? First, members of congress are not used to being challenged. They are used to apathy, ignorance and subservience. Thanks to the internet and talk radio, the truth about this so-called health care legislation has gotten out.

The arrogance of the elected and their uncontrolled spending and sense of entitlement is appalling. The house leadership wants eight new super-expensive planes costing $500 million. The administration keeps spending despite the fact that millions are out of work and debt will prolong the recession.

Liberals have condemned the confrontation at town hall gatherings, but they’ve shouted down conservatives, pro-lifers and Republicans in the past. They have bussed in people and given them signs printed by union members in opposition to conservative policies. This is a classic case of dishing it out without being able to take it. The nation understands and it is behaving in a way the founders would have approved.
