Spread Cheer and Kindness

Someone has said that we need to spread cheer, for everyone is carrying a heavy burden. This is so true. Consider nearly anyone you know and, if you know them well, can remind yourself of some of the burdens they are carrying. If they are impatient with you, chances are they are responding out of a heart of pain. If they are insensitive, chances are they are struggling internally. While this does not give them license to treat you disrespectfully, it can help you understand why they might act the way they do. Next time you face someone who is irritable, remind yourself of the heavy burden they are carrying. This will soften your reaction to them and perhaps even prompt you to offer cheer and kindness.
