Out Cold - PG-13
Best for: Adults who enjoy silly, mindless teen entertainment.
What it's about: Local snowboarders rebel when they hear their mountain will be turned into a yuppie resort by entrepreneur Lee Majors. Jason London, Victoria Silvstedt, Flex Alexander, A.J. Cook, David Denman, Caroline Dhavernas, Zach Galifianakis, Willie Garson, Derek Hamilton, Adam Harrington, Scott Heindl and Brett Kelly are all part of the ensemble who try to stop it.
The good: Snowboard enthusiasts will enjoy some death-defying sequences filmed with professional hotshots who snowboard off mountaintops and down steep cliffs.
The not-so-good: Basically, the rest of the movie. The dialogue is silly, the characters are stupid, and the main themes are sex, drinking, sex, drugs, sex and a few scenes of snowboarding. If you actually knew characters like the ones in this movie, you wouldn't tell anybody.
Offensive language: Mild obscenities, several sexual references, numerous religious profanities and lots of crude dialogue and behavior. We see cups of urine during a drug test, one with human excrement in it. Lots of drinking, and some drug use. Several discussions about lesbians and being gay that have nothing to do with the plot.
Sexual situations: The abundant amount of sexual dialogue and material in this movie almost warrants an "R" rating, but since no graphic sexual behavior or explicit nudity is shown, the film gets by with a "PG-13."
There are too many scenes to mention, but a few are too adult for most young teens to see: A man is passed out with his pants down, and a polar bear comes up and licks his crotch; in a dream sequence, a man is stuck in a gondola with a group of topless women; a man visits a lesbian Internet chat room via his computer and starts exchanging remarks with what he presumes is a lesbian but turns out to be another guy (we eventually see that the other man is typing while partially naked). Many more scenes, but you get the idea. Lots of bare butts and partially bare breasts are shown.
Violence: The silly kind where no one gets hurt.
Parental advisory: Your kids and teenagers may be attracted to this movie because it's about the sport of snowboarding, but because of the extreme amount of adult material in this "PG-13" movie, no kids or young teens should see it at all. Mature teens and adults should save their money and their minds from meditating on this kind of garbage.
