The importance of spiritual maturity for you

October 10, 2011

But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way?

1 Corinthians 3:1-3

I’ve been told that a wasp’s body is larger at the time that it is hatched than at any other time of its life. That’s amazing! A wasp will go its entire life and never grow a bit. But when I heard that, I was unfortunately reminded of many Christians today who have these great moments of new birth, but never begin to learn to walk in the newness of life God wants.

There’s such a resistance to spiritual growth in the church today. And many Christians I’ve spoken with seem to be more interested in their number of baptisms and people walking the aisle than they care about actually pouring into those who make a decision for Christ.

If you’re in Christ, you’ve been born again as a new babe. But you can’t just stay that way. You have to grow and get stronger every day for the Lord. How ridiculous would it look if you saw a mature man sitting by himself and playing with G.I. Joe action figures? It just doesn’t make sense!

Grow in your relationship with God. Find someone who can disciple you in the Word. Learn from other Christians how they walk with Christ. Have a consistent devotional life. Don’t be stagnant, but make every effort to become a spiritually-mature follower of Christ!

EVERY CHRISTIAN SHOULD GROW EACH DAY IN HIS OR HER WALK WITH CHRIST. SO MAKE SURE YOU’RE WALKING CLOSER WITH CHRIST EACH DAY.

Dear Friend,

In your brief time here on earth, God wants you to make an impact that lasts far beyond your years.  So how can you be sure that the legacy you leave will be strong for generations to come?

In my new 6-message CD series called Legacy, I’ll show you how your legacy for Christ can be cherished long after you’re gone. You’ll find out how a strong, committed relationship with God today can inspire those who come after you. And, you’ll discover how fulfilling your calling as a godly parent will make a lasting impact on your children.

When you live your life for Christ today, you can be sure you’ll leave a powerful legacy of faith for tomorrow!

I want to send you Legacy to thank you for your online donation to PowerPoint today. It’s my prayer that this series will both encourage and equip you to live your legacy now!

And thank you for your gift to reach more people with the hope of Christ. I’m grateful!
