And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Have I been fulfilling the Great Commission?
We call these verses the Great Commission because they tell us Jesus’ final call on our lives before ascending to be with His Father in heaven. As Paul put it in 2 Corinthians 5:18-20, Jesus handed on to us the ministry that He came to earth to begin.
God’s desire for you, whether you’re a pastor, a student, an IT specialist, an accountant, or a tradesman, is that whatever you do, you lead people to Jesus Christ at the same time.
God doesn’t want you to neglect your job in order to ‘preach’ to people. Rather, look for opportunities in your everyday conversations to turn the discussion to spiritual things, to share what God means to you, to ask if you can pray with someone about something in their lives, to talk about the way to get right with God.
If they’re open and interested, keep the conversation going. If not, just wait for the right time.
