Oh I Forgot I Got New Running Shoes! - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of April 26

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

Oh I Forgot I Got New Running Shoes!

I chuckled the other morning because I forgot I got new shoes. I had taken my daughter, Faith, to the shoe store because she needed a new pair of heels. The ones we bought for last year’s soccer banquet were too small. She was buying the exact same pair of black heels – just ½ size bigger. I decided to look at the clearance section at DSW. I found a pair of running shoes for 55% off, and they were my size! I snatched them up. I was planning to wait till next pay day to get a new pair of running shoes (which I desperately needed), but if I was going to pay less than ½ for a good pair, I had to get them now. When we got home, I put them in my closet – still in the box.

Two days later, I was getting ready to go running. I had my old shoes on. I was stretching on the floor of my bedroom and I saw the box. “Oh, I forgot I got new running shoes!” I said a loud.

Quickly, I took off my old pair and put on my new shoes. Ah, what a feeling! I stood up and felt like I was on a cloud. I was even more excited to go running, now that I had my new shoes on.  I immediately thought of the Armor of God, “shoes fitted for the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace,” and I thought, “How often do I forget I have new shoes of peace?” I decided to type up Ephesians 6:10-18 and put it on my closet door. It takes a diligent commitment to wake up and mentally put on our Armor of God. I think I’ll also get an index card and tape it to my shelf that reads, “Got your new shoes – fitted for the gospel of peace?”
