Is Your Mother Still Living? I Have a Word for You …
Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12
How I thank God for my own dear mother. One of my earliest recollections is to see my mother down on her knees. I cannot tell you the profound influence that had on my heart.
The heart of the home is the mother. Never underestimate the power of a mother. The closest thing to God’s love is the love of a mother. A father has influence on a child, but the deepest impression is made by a mother. A persuasive mother changes the course of history.
How can you honor your mother? Obey her when you are young, care for her when she is old, and honor her at all times. No service you do for God, no song you sing, will take the place of honoring your father and your mother.
Tell your mother how much you love her. Write your mother a letter and tell her how grateful you are. That that will mean more to her than any present you can buy her. She will read it over and over again. And when she dies and you’re going through her things, you’ll find that letter tucked away in her most treasured possessions.
