When the calendar hit October 1, my soul filled with glee as I realized the sweep of holidays was in full effect: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. I love this time of year!

If you’re prone to multi-tasking like I am, then you know how these tugs for our attention can easily compete. And who can fault us in this crazy, busy world that we live in today?

After being invited to a homeschool mom’s outing, I spent the entire morning coming up with reasons I shouldn’t attend.

Living in love, as John wrote in the verse above, releases us from the burden of alibis and stewing over injustice and hurt.

The next generations are watching to witness Christ’s love through us, just as we did from those before us.

Guilt can draw us deeper into the pit of self-condemnation, or it can compel us to share the love of our Savior with others. It’s our choice.

Our children will both make us rejoice in the highest of highs, and worship through tears in the hard moments. Let's thank God for the heritage He has given us in our children.

God hears and answers our prayers. He is always in motion on our behalf.

Jesus will always be our most loyal and loving friend, and when we follow His lead, we will be able to see the people who have been placed in our lives to love …and to love us. 

The battle between our ears has to be fought vigilantly.

But Jesus, through his death, brought peace. The kind of peace holds us steady when the storm rages. 

So many of life’s trials can lead to a broken heart. God knew the difficulties we would face in this life, so he gave us comforting words to tell us how much he cared about our broken hearts.

Ultimately, we must remember our joy is not anchored in this life, but most importantly, in the life to come. Our joy must be based on looking to God and to the inheritance we will receive in heaven.

God’s desire isn’t just for us to control our tongues but to deal with the root problem of loose lips, our hearts. In Matthew, 12:34-35 Jesus tells us that what is in our hearts will determine how we speak and act.

God has a wonderful plan for you and me. We can take courageous steps of faith in His lead. Love, give, and serve as God shows you.

As we look and observe the actions and lives of little ones daily, we may better understand how we are supposed to live in a relationship with You, totally dependent, trusting, and believing.

The seasons of anger, weeping, and a host of other negative emotions can linger, but hold on to this truth: Joy comes in the morning! 

The Apostle Paul shares with the Philippian church that it isn’t enough to proclaim your salvation, but as believers, we should see it worked out in our life, bearing fruit for all to see.

The Lord is our shield, our glory, the lifter of our head, and He will hear our every cry and He will answer. We must speak these words of truth and strengthen our faith based on our understanding of who God is and how He has helped us in the...
